SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: It takes a national average 1.7 pounds of carbon dioxide pollution to make one kilowatt of electrical power.

The average American makes about 3.5 pounds of trash each day.

About one third of what an average American throws out is packaging.

About 90% of the energy used in lighting standard (incandescent) light bulb is lost to heat.
